The Ministry of
Housing and Common Amenities in collaboration with the
National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) and Tsunami
Housing Support Project (THSP) of German Technical
Cooperation (GTZ) will be conducting a regional conference
on Post Disaster Management in November 2007.
THSP
is a Sri Lankan-German Co-operation project with its German
contribution implemented by the GTZ and financed by the
Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
The project is attached to the Ministry for the
institutional capacity building on Housing Disaster
Management after the Asian Tsunami disaster of 2004.
The national
conference on the same subject will be conducted prior to
the regional conference on 10th Octomber 2007.
The purpose of
the national conference is to provide opportunity for local
practitioners involved in post disaster reconstructions to
document their innovative experiences focusing on
sustainable reconstruction and present them to a local
panel. Sustainable reconstruction is seen as holistic
approach linking all relevant sectors in the reconstruction
process.
On this basis the
best contributions will be selected for presentation at the
regional conference in November, 01st 03rd November, 2007,
at Koggala Beach Hotel, Galle, Sri Lanka.
