NEW MINISTER OF
CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING SERVICES, HOUSING AND COMMON AMENITIES
ASSUMES DUTIES
Newly appointed
Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and
Common Amenities Mr. Wimal Weerawansa assumed duties at his
Ministry office on 26th April 2010.
Addressing the
function at the Ministry Mr. Wimal Weerawansa said “Providing
shelter to the homeless in the country is an area that requires
priority. There are those who could not afford even a house on
rent. Housing is a grave problem in the country. It is now
being planned to implement a short term and a long term plan to
resolve the problem of housing. The problem of shelter is
prominent in the low income group.”
Minister further said
that he will give priority to local contractors who can do much
better services in the construction sector in Sri Lanka.
Economic Development
Minister Mr. Basil Rajapaksa who participated this function said
that Ministry of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing &
Common Amenities was specially link with the country’s housing
and construction development activities and it will be one of
the main Ministry who has to work with the “Mahinda Chinthana”
vision.
Deputy Minister of
Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common
Amenities, Mr. Lasantha Alagiyawanna also assumed duties at his
Ministry office on 26th April. |
