The
National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) will set up an
information network system under the guidance of Ministry of
Housing & Construction. The prime objective of this network
system is to collect housing data and information in all
parts of the country including North and East.
This network
system will be implemented with the assistance of the German
Technical Co-operation (GTZ) funded by the German Federal
Ministry of Economic Co-operation and Development. Digital
cameras and other technical equipment and the detail
training for the officials were done with the assistance of
GTZ.
Mrs. Hilke
Ebert, Technical Advisor of GTZ who has handed over the
digital cameras to General Manager of
NHDA,
Mr. Wasantha Wijeratne said “When a situation like Tsunami
disaster, officials involved in the housing sector are
essential to collect and to report information and data
regarding the housing programme.”.
Mr. Mohamed
Rafeek, Chairman of NHDA who inaugurated the training
programme on information network system said “The NHDA
rendered a great services to the nation for 25 years in
housing development activities has taken initial steps to
setting up an information network to collect the relevant
information in Sri Lanka which will be held to the officials
of the NHDA and the general public.”
