A
special programme has been initiated to provide houses on
Jana Sevana national housing programme implemented under the
‘Mahinda Chinthana’ government policy to the families of
poorest of the poor those who suffering with acute housing
problems.
This programme
has been implemented by the National Housing Development
Authority (NHDA) under the guidance of Ministry of Housing &
Construction. This programme is to be carried out with the
assistance of several institutions and philanthropists. It
is estimated to spend Rs. 100,000/- for the construction of
each of these houses using cost effective low-cost housing
technologies
The first
donation for this programme was handed over by Chairman of
Vendol Lanka Group of Companies, Dr. K. Godakanda and
Chairman of ASP Group, Dr. A.S.P.Liyanage to first lady,
Mrs. Shiranthi
Rajapakse
at Temple Trees recently (1st February) with the
co-ordination of Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd. (ANCL)
under the ‘Dinamina Nivahana’ housing programme.
The construction
work of the first house under the ‘Jana Sevana-Dinamina’
housing programme were commenced on 5th February
at Anuradhapura Eppawala Kiralogama village under the
patronage of the first lady, Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapakse.
Chief
Minister of North Central Province, Mr. Berty Premalal
Dissanayake, Chairman of ANCL, Dr. K. Sunil Jayasekera
participated in the inauguration ceremony of ‘Dinamina
Nivahana’ programme with the local politicians of North
Central Province and government officials.
