Ranaviru Housing
Programme implemented island widely by the National Housing
Development Authority (NHDA) to fulfil the housing needs of
the Ranaviru families has been implemented successfully.
The main
objective of this programme implemented on the instructions
of the Minister of Housing and Common Amenities, Mrs. Ferial
Ashraff is to construct houses within few months with the
assistance of private sector and various other organizations
for Ranaviru families by lack of housing facilities. In
response to the request made to the private sector, the
Ocean View Development Company (Pvt) Ltd. (OVDC) had already
donated Rs. 1.5 million. The NHDA utilizing this money has
already started construction of Ranaviru houses for each
district in Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle, Hambantota, Kegalle,
Ratnapura, Kandy, Matale, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa,
Kurunegala, Monaragala, Badulla and Ampara.
Houses will be
construct with a donation of Rs. 100,00/- for each house
with the technical guidance of the NHDA. The required land
to be provided by the relevant Ranavuru families, District
Secretaries or Divisional Secretaries. NHDA has already
commenced construction work in the first week of July and
all construction work will be completed in a short period of
three months. NHDA has made all arrangements to hand over
the ownership of houses to Ranaviru families as a symbol to
mark the World Habitat Day which falls on 05th
October.

Kulatunga, the disabled brave soldier of Keenawatte GA
Division in Damana Divisional Secretariat Division of Ampara
District has been chosen to offer the Ranavuru house and the
Minister of Housing and Common Amenities, Mrs. Ferial
Ashraff, has initiated the construction of this house.
On this occasion
Minister Mrs. Ferial Ashraff, expressing her views said at a
moment, dawn of peace after three decades of conflicts,
soldiers who have contributed to achieve this honorable task
should be honored. It is the duty of the society to pay
tribute for them instead of merely limiting to functions to
honour them. Those who have benefited by the dawn of peace
should contribute towards this task to make future life of
brave soldiers happy. She further pointed out that the NHDA
with the assistance of private sector has launched the
Ranavuru Housing Programme to achieve this objective. Mrs.
Ferial Ashraff, further pointed out that it is an essential
duty by us to complete this housing programme in a short
period of time and hand over the houses to Ranaviru
families.
Mrs. Ferial
Ashraff, expressed her gratitude to OVDC. for contributing
for this programme. Further she requested other private
sector organizations to contribute to provide shelter for
the rest of Ranaviru families living in the other parts of
the country.
