“The employees of the
National Housing Development Authority (NHDA) who has assisted
to shelter the nation for the last 03 decades and house holders
who got the assistance from the NHDA services has joined hands
to help the displaced families from Northern war affected
areas. With this assistance NHDA employees and house holders
has collected more than Rs. 02 million worth of essential goods
for displaced families presently living in welfare villages in
Vavuniya. This will be the most exemplary activity done by the
NHDA for this year Vesak celebrations without spending state
funds for the decorations and other festival activities.”
This was said by the
Minister of Housing & Common Amenities, Mrs.Ferial Ashraff at
the event held at NHDA Head Office recently (07th
May) to dispatch Rs. 02 million worth of essential items
collected by NHDA staff from Head Office and District Offices
with the assistance of house holders of various housing schemes
in all parts of the country.
After dispatching
all these items which were collected by the housing schemes, has
been delivered to Anuradhapura collecting centre and these items
were distributed among the displaced families in the welfare
centre of Vavuniya on Vesak Full Moon Poya Day (08th
May) with the participation of Chief Minister of North Central
Province, Mr. Berty Premalal Dissanayake.

Kalam, General Manager of CMA Mr. Upali Upawansa and other
officials and staff members of NHDA and CMA participated in this
event.
