National Housing
Development Authority (NHDA) will implement a new housing
programme named Foster Housing for destitute families,
unable to build their own houses due to financial
constraints.
The main
objective of this housing programme implemented under the
guidance of the Minister of Housing & Common Amenities, Mrs.
Ferial Ashraff is to build houses for homeless destitute
families with the contributions of the organizations and
individuals of sound financial standing.
Selection of
destitute families living all over the island will be done
by the NHDA. The contribution need to build a single house
is Rs. 150,000/=. The organizations or individuals who
willing to make contributions can make their payments at
once or installments.
The selection of
destitute families can be done by the relevant organization
or individual from any area of their choice with the
guidance of staff of the relevant district office. The
particulars relating to living standard, physical condition
of the house and a photograph of the house where destitute
family lives will be make available to the foster
organization or to the individual by the NHDA.
The contribution
of Rs. 150,000/= for a house can be made at once or in six
(06) monthly installments of Rs. 25,000/=, for this
programme.
