This year’s World Habitat Day under the theme of “Housing Policies; Affordable Homes” was cerebrated at the Sanath Jayasuriya Stadium in Matara on 02.10.2017 under the patronage of Hon.Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing and Construction with the participation of  dignitaries including Hon.Mangala Samaraweera, Minister of Finance and Mass Media, Hon.Lakshman Yapa Abeywardhana, Sate Minister of Public Enterprise Development, Hon.Buddhika Pathirana, Member of Parliament for Matara District and many public officials.

This event also featured handing over of scattered housing loan to 1000 beneficiaries, granting of housing aids, , distribution of  title deeds and distribution of Occupational tool kits under “Shilpa Saviya”.

Also at this event, prizes were awarded to winners in all island arts and essay competition held for school children in parallel to the World Habitat Day-2017.
