Revised “National Housing Policy” will be available from 01st of July 2017 for public comments

In parallel to the  National Housing Day on 23.06.2017,  30th Model Village constructed in Manajjawa  village under “Gam Udawa “ Programme in Hambantota  as “Sandapahanagama” was declared open under the auspices of Hon. Minister of Housing and Construction, Mr.Sajith Premadasa.

This village consists of 26 housing units with infrastructure facilities such as pipe-borne water, electricity and carpeted  internal access roads.

At this ceremony, a commemorative stamp was issued to mark the  3rd National Housing Day in 2017 and also Sevana Lottery was re-launched in a new format.

Hon.Deputy Minister of Housing and Construction, Mr.Indika Bandaranayake and several  other dignitaries  participated at this occasion.

The 29th model village constructed under “Gamudawa” – “Sithuliyagama” - was decaled open by the Minister of Housing and Construction Hon. Sajith Premadasa on 17th June, 2017. This model village is located at Arawanamulla of Hambantota DS Division.

Progress Review Of Samata Sevana National Program Chaired By Secretary Ministry Of Housing And Construction Mrs.W.K.K. Athukorala Held In NHDA Head Office Auditorium Yesterday (6th Of June)

His excellency the president Maithripala Sirisena has decided to implement an initiative with the joint contribution of the National Housing Development Authority and the three forces to assist the people stricken by the recent floods. Thus, under the instructions of the Minister of Housing and Construction Hon. Sajith Premadasa , this programme has already been launched in the flood-affected districts. 
The Government Agents and Divisional Secretaries of the relevant flood-stricken districts and the representatives of the National Housing Development Authority have already commenced inspections on the damage caused to the housings and property in the respective districts. 
Following the guidance of the Hon. Minister, a special staff including coordinating officers has been appointed to each flood-affected district. They are engaged in the mission to distribute aids to the affected people. 
The aids programme for the flood-affected people in Hambantota district has been directed by the Hon. Sajith Premadasa whilst that of for the people in Galle , Matara, Ratnapura and Kalutara districts has been directed by the Deputy Minister, Hon. Indika Bandaranayake. Madam Hema Premadasa also graced these events. 

The 28th model village constructed under “Gamudawa” – “Sevanagama” - was decaled open by the Minister of Housing and Construction Hon. Sajith Premadasa on 27th May, 2017. This model village is located at Habaraththawala of Sooriyawewa DS Division in Hambantota District.

With the auspices of the Minister of Housing and Construction Hon. Sajith Premadasa, 500 scattered housing loan cheques were distributed to recipients in Kolonnawa of Colombo District on 25th May, 2017. The first loan installment worth of Rs. 30,000/- was distributed under the categories of new constructions and upgrading of housings.

A special housing development programme will beimplemented in  Vavuniya Division, in Bogaswewa area in Vavuniya AGA Division.

With this programme, 1492 new houses will be constructed and 251 houses to be upgraded.  Total cost of this project is Rs. 844 million.  A special meeting was held at Vavuniya Secretariat recently (22nd May) with the participation of GA Vavuniya Mr. R.M.B. Pushpakumara, Chairman of National Housing Development Authority (NHDA), Mr. L.S. Palansuriya and other officials of Presidential Secretariat, Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority,  Army and NHDA.

Government has already released Rs. 440 million to inaugurate this project and to complete targeted partly constructed houses and 50% of construction work of new houses.  Balance work of this project will be completed before March 2018.
