About 150,000 housing units are needed for the estate workers who live in line rooms built several decades ago. Main objective of this programme is to uplift the living standard of the estate workers and make their surrounding environment pleasant and healthy. Provision of rs.100 Mln. Has been allocated in order to complete the housing projects, started in previous years., Ministry of Economic Development gives the financial patronage for this housing  project. The relevant estate authority offers a land of 6 perch and Rs.100,000 and a fund of Rs.125,000 for a houses. Necessary infrastructure should be fulfilled by the same fund.The assistance of estate co-orporative associations is a special feature of this.243 houses were completed using Rs.36 M by September 2010 under the Estate Housing  Programme.
